Giro

The GIRO brand was born in 1985, driven by a cycling-mad road cycling designer: Jim Gentes. It all started in his garage, where, helped by friends working at NASA, he developed one of the first polystyrene helmets — lightweight, ventilated and above all with a real design!

GIRO helmets were very quickly appreciated by competitors, who replaced their old foam roll helmets with these new, higher-performing and more attractive models. A rapid success that was crowned as early as 1989 by Greg LeMond's legendary victory at the Tour de France — by just 9 seconds — with a GIRO helmet on his head. During the 1990s, the company joined the Bellsports group, which also includes Bell, the other pioneer of expanded polystyrene helmets! It maintained its premium positioning and its drive for innovation.

Since its beginnings, the brand has sought to offer forward-thinking products — both visually and technically — to passionate cyclists, those who compete and for whom high-performing protection is essential. Giro has also developed its expertise in the world of skiing and snowboarding, where safety is not a luxury and the quality of protection is paramount... and so is the look!

GIRO is one of the leading brands in professional and amateur pelotons alike — Probikeshop simply had to include it in its catalogue... You're either passionate or you're not!

When I changed my helmet, I wanted something with quality and comfort. I went for the GIRO Xar MTB helmet, and it was the right choice! It's lightweight, with a great design and effective ventilation. You forget you're wearing it, which won't stop it from protecting me in the event of a bad fall!
