Training is the key to improving performance. To make the most of this time, it's essential to be able to quantify, display and analyze it. The POWERTAP power sensor system is a real training tool which enables you to measure the cyclist's power precisely, display it on a computer/smartphone and then analyze it using software.

How do POWERTAP power sensors work?

Power (W) = Torque (N.m) x Angular velocity

POWERTAP power sensors base their technology on the principle of extensometry (i.e., the measurement of deformations). Mechanical power is measured through the strain gauges. Thanks to the constant deformation of these calibrated parts, the system measures force torque (in N.m).

Angular velocity measurement depends on the component in which the power sensor is integrated. For a crankset or pedals, for example, it corresponds to the pedaling cadence, while for a hub, it corresponds to the speed of rotation of the rear wheel.

All POWERTAP power sensors are compatible with computers and/or smartphones that work with the ANT+ technology or technology. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).

Precision POWERTAP systems

POWERTAP power sensors measure power with a high degree of accuracy of +/- 1.5%.. The accuracy of a power sensor is essential for training at the right intensities. Numerous independent studies and scientific research validate this precision.

PowerAgent software

PowerAgent software enables analysis of peak power, time spent at different intensities (power and heart rate), average speed, cadence and distance, among other information. It also visualizes training load (TSS), normalized power and output intensity. This makes it possible to objectively monitor performance over the long term in order to optimize training and improve performance.
