No degreasing is required: a simple wipe with a dry brush or cloth is all that's needed to maintain the chain.

1. Why use a waxed chain rather than an oiled one? Wax forms a dry microfilm that doesn't attract sand or dust. This prevents the creation of an "abrasive paste" that wears out your cassette prematurely. Your bike stays cleaner longer and you gain a few watts in efficiency.

2. How do I maintain my chain once the factory wax has worn off? The last thing you want to do is add oil. After about 300-500 km (or an outing in the rain), clean the chain with a dry cloth and apply a fresh coat of liquid wax (such as KMC GO WAX).

3. Is the "Celeste" coating just for looks? The black color is the DLC treatment (ultra-hard). The colored accents (Celeste) are an additional coating that also protects against corrosion, but it's actually the black DLC that ensures the friction performance.

4. Is it compatible with 12-speed drivetrains? No. This chain is strictly reserved for 11-speed systems (Shimano, SRAM, Campagnolo). For 12 speeds, there's the DLC 12 version.
